Topic: Too much attention is paid to and too much money is spent on keeping pets, while people throughout the world are starving.
Discuss the arguments for and against keeping pets. To what extent do you agree?

People and animals are living creatures. Too much emphasis is put on animals and may be consider negatively. In contrast, much of the world population is starving. Thus, people should be considered as a priority for support.

Based on research, animals have been used to cure people psychologically. Single and retired people could be accompanied by animals. Research also supports that pets could prevent heart problems for people when they get older. Pets such as dogs are considered as a man’s best friend. Dogs are also used as friends for disabled people. This case is practicable in developed countries such as Canada and Japan. Therefore, animals might give more advantages to societies.

On the other hand, starvation is a crucial and present obstacle for many countries. Sub-Sahara is the poorest area in the world. Many children work to support their own family and siblings but their earnings are still insufficient to support their basic needs. Money should be spent on this area rather than spending on keeping pets. People should care their own kind first before they look after other creatures. Hence, money should be prioritized to support people.

In addition, people overuse their time and money for pets caring. Owners regularly spend money for pets checkup and grooming. People should consider social activities and productivities which bring social development. So too much time spent with pets is unnecessary.

In summary, too much attention and money are spent on keeping pets and should be minimized. Those funds should be spent to support people’s fundamental needs.
