Topic: The idea of having a single career is becoming an old fashioned one. The new fashion will be to have several careers or ways of earning money and further education will be something that continues throughout life.
Employment is one major source to support life. Having a single career is an archaic notion. However, having several careers and further education will be better for life. It may be shown that various occupations and further education provide plenty of opportunities to cope with a fast moving environment.
A single job for an entire lifetime may be practicable with self-employment. For instance, an entrepreneur initiates and runs his business for the rest of his life. And his work may be passed to his sons or daughters. Therefore this traditional work will be continued from generation to generation. It may be acceptable to have a single job for life as it is easy to do due to experience and expertise.
On the contrary, people should have several careers rather than one because the world has changed. Advanced technologies transform the world. Some jobs have been mechanized. Being chained to a single job is a form of stagnation. Proactivity by learning other skills results in a greater capability for a variety of jobs. Hence, a variety of employment experience allows flexibility.
Employment mobility is a necessity.Multi-skilling is a good illustration. A director or a chief executive officer in a corporation can hold another position as a member of a remuneration committee. Additionally, further education is crucial for career development. Higher degrees contribute to better future career prospects and social recognition. Therefore, up-grading capacity and having occupational scope result in more opportunities.
In conclusion, having a diversity of employment provides economic opportunities. Further education will facilitate the ability to cope with dynamic change from globalization.
