Writing task II

Topic: In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.

Employment or travel is a fundamental lesson which young people can absorb in terms of experience. Some people say that there is a negative consequence such as studies distraction and time ineffective whereas others believe that there are great advantages of a gap-year employment or travel involvement. It can be clearly shown that considerable advantages may be gained through employment or travel because experience may be earned by young people. The involvement of employment or travel can be considered as not time effective especially those students who just finished their high school. Premature permanent employment can restrict future prospects. For example, some high school leavers in developing nations: Cambodia, Myanmar, and Congo, first just think to involve with employment only a short period of time. However, family living conditions and peer groups can greatly influence their decision. As a result, they proceed to remain in fixed employment. Therefore, a negative result can be found through a year- gap employment or travel. In contrast, it is essential for young people who experience employment or journey because they learn how to handle problems and how to manage themselves regarding lifestyle rather than depend on family. Also, they comprehend social interaction which can develop social network. Besides, they are capable of building up confidence before entering university and they become more independence and experienced in decision-making. An example of this can be found in some high school students in industrial nations. They determine to have a year off exposing to the world by seeking employment or exploration. As a result, they learn new things and expand new perceptions which can be useful for their upcoming at university. Therefore, young people fully integrate into society as well as at university. In conclusion, there are substantial advantages such as new experience, skills, and perceptions which can be gained through a year-gap employment. This may bring practical ideas at university.
